Your Good Light

Ever wonder why certain people are attracted to you? I don't mean any physical attraction but they are just attracted to, maybe... your personality. Your attitude. Your way of thinking. Your strength. Your positivity. They are attracted to that "light" in you.

That light is Christ
"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven." Matthew 5:16 [KJV]

How is your light looking? Is it shining bright as ever? Is it illuminating through your life, captivating others? Or is it slightly dim? Only bright when things are going your way and dark as ever when you become slumped under the foot of the world?
Jesus Christ did not come, die on the cross for our sins, for us to CHOOSE when to let "this little light of mine" SHINE. God never promised us gummy bears & rainbows in this life. God never promised us-EASY LIFE. Here is what His word did say:

"I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trails and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world." John 16:33 [NLT]

"I will not leave you comfortless, I will come to you." John 14:18 [KJV]

"When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future." John 16:13 [NLT]

"2 Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. 3 For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. 4 So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing." James 1:2-4 [NLT]

You have to make a decision, every single day of your life, to wake up and intentionally live for God. This means while you're at work and your boss is getting on your last nerves, or while you're on the phone with Verizon or Sprint and you're giving them such a negative attitude...just leaving the door WIDE open for the enemy to come in. People should be able to identify you by the fruit on your tree. What if a friend of yours from work finally decided to visit your church and he/she sees you with yours hands raised worshiping God, but that Friday you were cussing people out left and right! Do you see where the confusion might be??

Everyone who "calls" themselves a Christian is not an [authentic] Christian.

Maybe you are like myself, how I once was: Claiming to love God but choosing who to love and not to love. God's word says to love others as you love yourself. Maybe you selfishly don't want to forgive someone who hurt you, and they very well might attend your church-so you bad mouth them, and all after service your thoughts towards them are not pure. You can't stand them. It maybe someone you were dating, or a sister that "rubbed you the wrong way." The devil wants division inside the church. If you love God, I mean truly, truly love Him, LOVE would be flowing in and out of your light. And if you can't shut those feelings down, you better be fighting back with the word, Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ (II Corinthians 10:5).

If you are constantly seeking God, falling on your face about your heart and your ways, He will answer you. It may take 3, 6, or 12 months-you decide. Christ is light. He is the light living on the inside of you. Get rid of all the junk- the carnal music, garbage tv shows, friends, etc. WHATEVER you have to do! Do you desire His light? Many of us (in theory) want to know God. YOU CANNOT KNOW GOD & REMAIN UNCHANGED!

He is going to require more and more of you. More, than some of us are willing to give up. Ask yourself this question: Am I able to surrender my entire life over to God? Before you answer, really think about this. Your ENTIRE life. Everything YOU wanted to achieve. All the places YOU wanted to visit. The person YOU want to marry. What if God says no to some of your wants? Would you still obey Him? Would you say, "God, your will and not my own. Whatever you want me to do, instruct me, and I will do it. Help me to not put my selfish wants and ways before you."

And don't think for a second that God won't instruct you in the way which you should go. Before you do anything, you need to be checking with the Holy master.

God wants to develop you. Don't remain a babe in Christ forever. You will never see His great works living on the milk of the word. I know it may seem hard to abstain from sex, stop drinking, stop smoking, leave the "party-life", turn-off Chris Brown, throw away the pornography, stop cussing, etc. BUT- HOW BAD DO YOU WANT THIS?

Do we understand ETERNITY is at stake here?? If I'm madly in love with my boyfriend, if he doesn't want me at certain places-I won't go. If he is in need of something, and I can help-best believe I will. If he wants to eat healthier-I will do my best. WHY? Because I love him! Why don't we treat God, not the same way, BUT GREATER? God called us to be Holy. If you love God, I mean you have a real heart for Him, just that love & fear alone will cause you to want to please Him.

Now this doesn't happen overnight, you must grow in love with the Father. Seek His face daily. Pray. Spend that quiet time. Be a quiet example. You don't have to stone everyone because they're still listening to that music or watching that television show.

If I can be transparent with you for a minute, one of my convictions was the music and tv shows I was watching. One day, I went into my car and threw out every CD that was carnal, secular music. My Beyoncé CD (which I adored!!), Drake, everything. I got the revelation that these people do not glorify God, and by me listening to them, they are planting bad seeds in my heart and not pleasing to Christ. How can you love God, but jam to a worldly artist? It makes no sense to me now, but previously, I thought it was okay. It's my conviction and the Spirit leading ME.

"Hypocrite! First get rid of the log in your own eye; then you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend's eye." Matthew 7:5 [NLT]

We must examine our own selves. No one is perfect. I am repenting daily, praying that I mature in the things of the Lord. Pursue righteousness & holiness. And when you pray that kind of prayer, God will test you so be ready & fight the good fight!

At your job, work as unto the Lord. Be cautious before opening your mouth. Love others. Remember, you are a child of God. You have a standard, a lifestyle to uphold.

People will be attracted to that light in you. How you always have joy even in the midst of your sorrows. Or how you pray for those that curse you, instead of gossiping about them to the next person. Your faith alone makes a statement.

Let others around you see Your Good Light!
